Ident Third attempt
For my third attempt at an Ident. I made all the changes that i thought needed to be made after listening to my friends feedback. Here i changed some of the music to make more of an obvious contrast between them. I also added a few more fading transitions to try and make the ident run a lot more smoothly which i think worked very well as it ties in with the idea of 'fusion' because as one clip is still playing, you can gradually see the next clip appear with a building opacity level. Another thing i think worked quite well was have my animation of the text also appear in low opacity popping up all the way through the trailer then right at the end play the animation in full to finish the ident clearly stating that fusion was the name of the tv channel. Another thing i think worked well was that i also included the slogan 'your choice' highlighting that it is the viewers choice to choose between which genre: some/all/ or more, to almost personalise the channel to their preferences. I feel this is an excellent idea as this gives the viewers a more intimate engagement with the channel, Boosting their viewing experience.

Second Attempt at an Ident
To make my second attempt, I decided to change my idea a little. My idea here was to incorporate the initial animation i made of the words and colours ect fusing together, with a range of clips from artists and bands along with the audio that came with it. My idea was to have short clips flashing in and out transitioning from one another as if someone is changing the channel between music genres yet also combining my logo fading in an out throughout the duration of the clips to ultimately the full logo coming together at the end. I did this process in both photoshop animation and premier pro. However i did come across a few issues while doing so. Firstly i found that the sound was just jumping from one song to another, in an annoyingly abrupt kind of fashion. To fix this i discovered some audio transitions that would blend the sound a little better so that they transitioned in an out, rather than a straight switch.
After sorting this, i decided i still wasn't happy with my now 30second ident. Except i couldn't put my finger on why i wasn't happy with it. So i thought it best to go out and get a second opinion off some of my friends.
After telling my friends about the music channel and how the idea was to represent multiple types of music, their initial reaction was that the distinction between the different genre's needs to be much more clearer and that the way i did it was that all the genres kind of blended into one and they couldn't tell which was which as the songs i had chosen were all fairly similar. This feedback was very helpful to me as it made me suddenly realise i had only chosen songs that i liked, thats why they all kind of blended together. I had not properly researched the types of genre's and the popular artists from those genres as i should have done. The artists i had chosen were all fairy pop/chart music and quite similar.
In response to this i then conducted some further research and i then realised that 'contrast is key' to get my idea across properly i had to make sure the tracks i chose opposed eachother so strikingly that it was very obvious to the viewer that this channel was one of variety and gave something for everyone.

First attempt at an Ident
As i started my first attempt to making my Ident, i soon found out it wasn't at all as easy as i thought it would be. My First idea was having the Ident very similar to my logo, as the channels identity and look would flow as it tied in with the logo. My idea was to have the logo plain and black and white coming down from the top of the page, then all the other sections to the logo e.g the colour, the textures, and other features such as the contrasts and smoke from underneath the logo would come together on the page, as if the text was "fusing' together out of nothing. I like the idea of things 'fusing' together as it ties in with my idea of the music channel having a 'fusion' of different music types/genres. As i have never made an animation before, i chose to make it in photoshop as that looked the best option for me as it looked quite straight forward. I soon found out that this method was particularly tricky because you had to keep copying over the same image and very carefully rearrange everything on the page in different positions ever so slightly so that it all flowed when you clicked play, which was quite difficult to do smoothly. I also discovered it took particularly long to make a very short clip. It took me quite a while to make my First attempt at an animation, and the end product i wasn't happy with as it lasted only about 5 seconds and the brief was to make an animation from 30-60 seconds long. Another criticism i had with it was i hadn't done it precise enough to make it run smoothly.Another thing i didn't like about my first attempt for an ident , is that i used a soundtrack from a pop song i particularly liked. However this contradicts the theme of my channel, which is a variety of different types and genres, viewers may get the impression that it is a pop only music channel which Isn't what i am aiming for. To solve this issue in my second attempt i am going to include various short snippets from a range of genres to get my idea across more clearly.
I do however, like the way animating in photoshop has a more traditional type of animating with an almost stop motion kind of look. I have decided to keep with the program of photoshop, however rethink my Ident to make it more interesting, run more smoothly, and run for a longer space of time.

My Logo
I really like my finished logo, i like the way the background is fairly simplistic because it creates a stark contrast between the bright text and the dark background.
The idea for my logo was to 'fuse' together textures and colours to create the word 'fusion' as it represents my channels identity. Which is a 'fusion' of all different genres and types of music that are coming together on one channel. I really like how the colours carefully blend into one another smoothly on the smoke looking texture at the bottom, combined with the almost 'alive' looking sort of 'electricity' looking texture at the top of the text. I think this logo will do well in representing my channels identity.
Logo Research
I particularly Like The channel 4 logo As it is a very straightforward looking logo. it is mainstand black and white, which channel 4 can easy manipulate to suit any background. It also has some depth to it as it is very 3D looking from the combination of different blocks coming together to make the number more interesting and complex that it first looks. This could have been done to represent how the channel isn't all it seems and has multiple layers and dimensions to it.
I also like the E4 logo, I particularly like its colour scheme of purple and white because the stark contract is what makes it stand out and make the logo really pop. In addition to this i like the way the logo has a softer outline in comparison to the channel 4 one. I think this is to represent how the channel is more of a youth based channel rather than the more formal channel 4. I think this idea comes across very well just by looking at the appearance of the logo. I also like how the 'E' is inside the 4.

I Really Like the 'Viva' logo. I personally prefer where the logo is a piece of text as it is very clear what the channel is called. I also think its a lot more versatile with changing backgrounds ect. For example you could incorporate some different images into the different lettering to make it more interesting and mix up the channels image a bit more. I think this technique would fit well with my channel as the channel is a mixture of different themes and genres of music-something for everyone- i am going to try to incorporate this idea into my logo.
Logo Research
With the idea for my name sorted, I then need to make a logo that stands out to go with it, so i decided to do some research on other TV channel Idents and logo's and the colour schemes.
I am going to use a very useful website called 'TV' ark is going to help me with my research

Channel Name
After some more consideration, i decided that i did not like the name 'IM' for 'Interactive music' as is sounded way to similar to 'Instant messenger'. So i thought the name 'IM' may confuse people. So instead i brainstormed a few other ideas, and also searched in a word generator to give me some inspiration.
